Synopsis:
A tiny provincial settlement somewhere in Kirgizstan. Zarlyk, till now considered missing by his loved ones, returns home after 20 years as a guest worker in Russia. A lot has happened in two decades: his son has two kids of his own now, his wife, believing Zarlyk dead, has remarried, his friends have aged and Zarlyk can't relate to any of this because he has lost his memory.

Born in Kuntuu village, Kyrgyzstan in 1957. Graduated from Kyrgyz State Art School in 1980. In 1990 debuted as film director with short documentary “The Dog Was Running”. In 1993 has shot first short fiction film “The Swing” and in 1998 fiction feature “The Adopted Son”. In 2010 debuted as an actor in his film “The Light Thief”. Filmography also includes “The Chimp” (2001) and “Centaur” (2017). Aktan Arym Kubat is participant at many international film festivals and multiply awarded.
