2024 Key Visual & Poster

For its milestone 10th Anniversary, the Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) pays homage to an icon of strength, elegance, and resilience: Anna May Wong. The 2024 festival artwork, crafted by Fifth Atrium, is dedicated to Hollywood’s first Chinese-American film star and pioneer.

Reflecting AWFF’s theme of Heritage, the poster focuses on Anna May Wong’s gaze and posture, rendered in a black-and-white design that pays homage to the elegance and timelessness of the classic film era. Incorporating the snow leopard, AWFF’s signature symbol, the design represents Anna’s fluid portrayals and resilient spirit in embodying diverse characters. The combination of Anna’s strong, focused gaze and the fierceness of the snow leopard embody the very essence of AWFF.

As the first Asian-American to grace U.S. currency and an upcoming USPS stamp for her 120th birth anniversary, Wong’s story is a powerful reminder of the courage it takes to embrace one’s heritage in the face of discrimination.
