Mark Choi
Born in Seoul, Korea, and raised in Santa Monica, California, during his Senior year at Fordham University, Mark was hand-picked by the Godfather of Korean Cinema, Director Sang-Ok Sheen, to work on his films Mayumi: Virgin Terrorist and 3 Ninjas series. He then branched into theme parks as a project coordinator and manager with Landmark Entertainment Group and Disneyland and was also assistant sound engineer for Jurassic Park The Ride at Universal Studios, Hollywood. From 1997 - 2002, Mark became a Sound Editor and a member of the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE) working on 40+ features including The Bourne Identity, Election, and Black Hawk Down, alongside Directors such as Sam Rami, Alexander Payne, Kathryn Bigelow, and Ridley Scott. Mark also honed his people skills dealing with tens of thousands of customers as the owner and operator of The Korean Book and Toy Store between 2001 and 2015. In 2012, Mark was one of the Producers for Look East Festival which made history by inducting the first Korean Actors, Lee Byung Hun and Ahn Sung Ki to have their hands and feet prints immortalized at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood and also giving tribute to the late director Pierre Rissient. In 2019, Mark was invited to the 5th AWFF as a guest. However, before the festival ended, he became a volunteer, involved in many different duties, and has stayed a part of AWFF ever since! Mark now plays an important role in AWFF's theater management and programming operations during both the Festival and AWFF special screening events throughout the year.
